From the desk of CUSBC President
By Linda Johnson

Upon being elected President of the CUSBC one of my goals is better communication with the membership and local associations.

The following is an update regarding the CUSBC board of directors; at the board meeting on October 10 the following appointments were approved: Rosie Parker was appointed to 1st Vice President, and Lynn Graves appointed to Sergeant at Arms. The following were appointed as directors: Sandi Thompson - Pleasanton, Dennis Ganduglia - Rohnert Park, Mike Hillman - Fremont and Larry Worrall -Long Beach.

Now for the change in the tournament directors; to begin, when the three organizations agreed to merge, a part of the agreement was to retain the directors for two years. It turned into more like 5 years and because of the financial impact it was time to bite the bullet and make some changes. With that, all three tournament directors were released and Larry Peppers CUSBC Association Manager employed Melissa Ade as Adult Tournament director for the Open and Women’s Championship and Lynn Matsubara will be Youth Tournament director for Pepsi and Youth Championships.

Speaking of the championship tournaments; the CUSBC Women’s events are being hosted by Ventura USBC WBA and Open events are scheduled for Central CA USBC in Fresno. The Youth tournament will be in Oroville/Yuba City. Entries will be available soon so check with your bowling centers, local associations and the state website at

The California BVL Singles has a new title. It is now the California USBC Helen Duval Veterans Tournament. We encourage all local associations to hold BVL qualifying tournaments and send your winners to the roll-off being held in Citrus Heights at Fireside Lanes which is within the Greater Sacramento USBC. The tournament date is March 26, 2011 with two squads Noon and 3:30. This is a certified event so make sure the bowlers your associations send have a 2010-2011 USBC membership.

High on our list are plans to attend and visit as many local association meetings and events as possible. We have already paid a visit to the Southern L.A. County USBC and both Nor Cal and Southern CA Proprietors annual meetings. More visits have been scheduled.

Until next time, let’s keep the ball rolling because the “Best Bowlers come from California”.
