U S B C CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION Offering $l,000 Scholarships

The USBC California Association begins their statewide search for youth candidates for our 2011 Star of Tomorrow $l,000 Scholarship Award. This award is available to the “best of the best” in our youth who meet our qualifications.

Our purpose is to recognize star qualities in a high school or college student who competes in the sport of bowling. Star qualities include distinguished certified bowling performances on state, local, national, international, Team USA, or collegiate levels; as well as, academic achievement; and leadership. The Award winner(s) receive a $l,000 Scholarship.

The Nominees shall be a male or female and be: (1) An active member of the USBC California Association (Youth or Collegiate) and an amateur as defined by USBC rules; (2) A High School graduating Senior who has applied to an accredited University, Junior College or Vocational Institution OR currently attending an accredited University, Junior College or Vocational Institution; (3) Younger than 20 years as of August 1, 2010; (4) A current season bowler with a minimum average of 175 and an outstanding record of bowling achievements in the past and current seasons; (5) Recorded as having a minimum of 2.0 GPA or equivalent. The recipient(s) will receive a $l,000 Scholarship credited to their Smart Account with USBC to assist in furthering their education.

Completed applications and accompanying documents are to be mailed to: Phyl Knoll, Chairman, 5161 W 136 St., Hawthorne 90250-5637 or emailed to phylbowls@sbcglobal.net. The USPS postmark or email date MUST BE on or before JANUARY 15, 2011.

We urge you to assist us in spreading the word about this wonderful award by printing off the Cover Page and 2-Page Application Form from our website calusbc.com and circulate copies of the application throughout your bowling community. Who knows? One or more youngsters, who could qualify, may be “right under your nose”!
