Tina Martin, Treasurer

Tina Martin of Novato bowled her first league in a GAA (Girls Athletic Association) program in high school in Richmond, CA. She is married to Jim and they have two sons.

Being the stay-at-home Mom, Tina was easy prey for PTA, Scouts and youth bowling programs and an active volunteer and board member in the youth bowling association taking kids to a variety of tournaments each year. Tina finally found herself employed at Nave Lanes in Novato as their Marketing and Promotions person. In the process, she started a monthly newsletter, "Nave Lanes News", writing, editing, producing and distributing it "by hand" she says, to all bowlers.

In 1988 she joined the Marin County WBA Board and eventually served as president for four years. She continues to serve as a Director on the MCUSBC Board and says she has always promoted working as a "Team."

When Nave Lanes closed in 1999, Tina was asked to work for Country Club Bowl in San Rafael as their League Coordinator and Marketing & Promotions person. She is still the League coordinator at the center and writes their newsletter "Country Club News" and continues to write publicity for the local newspaper as well as run tournaments.

She says her “claim to fame” was in 2010 when she received the “USBC Joyce Deitch Trailblazer Award” in Reno at the USBC Convention. She will never forget the surprise phone call from USBC President, Jeff Boje. She won the "C" Division of the California State BVL in 2000. Tina was inducted into the Marin Co. WBA Hall of Fame and MCWBA Life Member for 2005. She has only missed a couple times in her bowling leagues in over 35+ years as League secretary.

Tina proudly claims the 35-Year CUSBC Participation Award and still coordinates teams to the championship tournaments each year. This year she coordinated 60 bowlers to USBC Open and 20 to USBC Women’s in Reno. She is a charter member of CBW and a member of the IBMA. She has been the CBW Treasurer since 2004.

Along the way she has found time to be a certified bowling coach for YABA, CWBA and USA Bowling Level II and is a USBC Registered Volunteer. She loves the enthusiasm of the younger bowlers and continues to coach them each week.
